Open Science – Experimenting & Publishing

As I just discovered, at this year's ECVP (European Conference on Visual Perception which sadly I missed, but some of my students & colleagues attended it) there was a session on “A vision for open science”. I'm part of the choir they were preaching to – I'm as mad as anyone that we do all the work for the publishers and then suddenly we don't own the product any more, and am concerned on reproducibility of results. The attached link leads to the OpenVisionScience page, were (a little down, currently just under past events) the presentation slides can be viewed. I just went through them. What I like most is that they're not just whining ;-), but making a number of concrete suggestions.

I will think about publishing raw data + analysis (in R, of course) in upcoming papers, and more.
