In contrast to other parts of the world, summer isn’t so hot this year at my place, although Freiburg is the hottest town in Germany (temperature-wise). So in our wee natural swimming pond

the temperature in the last 3 months always hovered between 20 and 24°C, today it is 20°C. These moderate temperatures and low biomaterial content in the water make life a little hard for many plants. Still, the water lily which I freshly planted several months ago now decided to come up (literally) with a beautiful blossom. It stayed over water only for 3 days, then the pedicel spiraled, pulling it back under water; blossom closed. But it’s nice swimming in there every morning anyway.
