I just finished the book “The Martian” and _really_ liked it. You need to be somewhat technically inclined, because Weir doesn't invent too deep psychologic characterization here – just determined plodding and problem-solving in the face of incredible difficulties and setbacks for his hero. I also like the degree to which methodological aspects are described. Quite funny often, to boot, with a wry humor.
