Good news for my Vision Test Battery FrACT₁₀
Basic operation unchanged!

More good news – A number of new features:

  • The feedback sounds are now selectable (Idee von Anna), possibly nicer? See Settings>Misc. If you have good suggestions, more can be added.
  • “Embed in noise” for both acuity and contrast optotypes; idea from Lynne
  • Helper fields “best/worst possible acuity” in LogMAR & decimal VA: immediately check on VA range, as dependent on VDU resolution calibraion and distance; feedback from Jasleen
  • Redesign of the “Line(s) of optotype” mode
  • Randomization of eccentricity side; idea from Ângela
  • Add an “ISI” (interstimulus interval); idea from Sven
  • More Presets
  • Communication via HTML window.postMessage() for (nearly) all settings, both read and set. Presets can be selected, runs started, status obtained, responses automatically entered and more. This allows FrACT to be embedded in larger systems, fully controlled from supervising software.
  • What you don’t see, but good for quality & long-term support: Internal changes improving documentation, integration, simplification, extensibility and testing; drop superfluous Cappuccino files.
  • Even more details in the commit history.

And a new paper on FrACT

Bach M (2024) Freiburg Vision Test (FrACT): Optimal number of trials? Graefes Arch (open access)

The answer is not 42… The “kink” at 18 trials (see neighboring figure) suggests 18 trials (if you are using Sloan letters or 8-alternative Landolt-Cs).
